Employers - Are you trying to keep recruiting costs down? Tired of paying hefty fees at online job sites that yield little return? Here are a few resources and ideas to consider.

1. Pay the Piper. Many companies offer referral fees to their employees for finding talent, why not expand it to allowing others to send you qualified resumes? It’s pretty much like affiliate marketing for HR and it works.

2. Make it clear to your staff when you have openings. Many times employees don’t know when new jobs become available. You will usually attract better qualify employees if they are referred by those who already work there.

3. Get involved in online communities. Network with the people. Not just sites like LinkedIn and Craigslist, get involved in user groups and niche networks where people actually interact offline and online.

4. Make it very clear from your home page that you are hiring. Have your web team create a button or banner that touts the fact that you are hiring and that you will pay those who refer candidates that get hired. It will create an army of commissioned recruiters for you and will produce results.

5. Seek out recruiters that don’t charge a fortune. There are plenty of them out there, you just need to find them. Many times they have solid candidates ready to work, and you could be missing out.

When you hear of a job opening, don’t you immediately think of people that might be interested in that job? It’s just human nature. If the person you recommend gets the job, they “might” take you to lunch, but most likely you will just feel good about helping someone out.
